GB Juniors start to iron out the kinks

Scrimmage games, friendly matches or "exhibition games" as they call them in North America, are designed to help teams solidify their teamwork and get the nerves out of the way when preparing for a major competition. For the GB Under-19 Women's Fastpitch Team, their first exhibition match in Canada, despite the 10-0 scoreline to the opposition, was an important first step in that direction.

It’s a long way to Vancouver….

It was a long, hard slog of 18 hours to get from London to Vancouver for the GB Under-19 Women's Team -- but now they get to play some of the world's top junior teams and watch women's teams like the US, Japan, Canada and Australia in action.

Softball national and club teams swing into international action in July

International competition gets underway in July and continues into August for five GB Softball national teams and four British club teams, at locations ranging from Canada to Bulgaria and points in between.

Rain cuts play short on Day 3 at the London Fastpitch Softball League

The forecast heavy shower arrived on cue just after 4.30 pm on Saturday, June 18, and it cut short the third day of play in this year's London Fastpitch Softball League. While Division 2 got all their games played, Division 1 teams played just one game out of three.

London Meteors bow out in semi-final at Zeist

London Meteors, a team composed of the top male fastpitch players in the UK and some high-level converts from slowpitch, reached the semi-finals at the annual Zeisterslot Tournament in the Netherlands, played from June 11-13. Two defeats at the hands of RAF Lakenheath kept the Meteors from reaching the final.

GB Women’s Team v USA to be televised on ESPN America

When the Great Britain Women's Fastpitch Team plays the United States in the 6th World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City on July 24, the game will be available live in Britain on the subscription channel ESPN America, and will be televised again via tape delay on July 25 and 26.

Walkoff wins feature at the London Fastpitch Softball League

It was another excellent day of fastpitch when the 12 London Fastpitch Softball League teams gathered for the second day's play of the season on Saturday, June 11 at Richings Park Sports Club. Division 1 in particular featured some thrilling games and dramatic endings.

Netherlands bids to host 2014 Women’s World Championships

The Dutch Baseball and Softball Federation has submitted a bid to the ISF to host the 2014 Women's Fastpitch World Championships at the Olympia Softball Club in Haarlem in. If the bid is successful, it will be the first time the World Championships will have been staged in Europe.

London Cup brings international fastpitch back to the UK

International fastpitch competition returned to the UK for the first time since 2006 when teams from Denmark and Croatia, and four teams from Britain, played a thoroughly enjoyable London Cup Invitational Tournament at Richings Park Sports Club near Langley on the weekend of May 28-29. The British club team Richings Park took the title, with the Danish National Women's Team second and the GB Under-19 Women's Team third.

Fakenham fastpitch girls end their season with a doubleheader split

The Fakenham Softball Association Girls' Fastpitch Team traveled to RAF Alconbury on Saturday, May 21 to play their final games of the season against RAF Lakenheath and RAF Alconbury.
