Chromies come back to lift the European Slowpitch Cup

The defending European Slowpitch Cup champion Chromies managed only a 6-6 record and third place in the round-robin phase of the 2011 competition, played in Mlade Buky in the Czech Republic. But then Chromies swept through the Page Playoffs and defeated Limerick from Ireland in the final to lift the trophy again.

GB Women settle for third place at the European Championships

Another 1-0 defeat to Italy put the GB Women's Fastpitch Team out of the 2011 European Women's Championships on the afternoon of August 6, and the final will be between Italy and the Netherlands. But the GB Team achieved their main goal: qualification for next year's World Championships in Canada.

Pioneers are favourites as the European Slowpitch Cup heads for Page Playoffs

The BSF 2010 Premier Nationals Champions Pioneers finished well ahead of the field by the time the round-robin phase of the 2011 European Slowpitch Cup came to an end on Friday evening, August 5 at Mlade Buky in the Czech Republic. Pioneers will be joined by Limerick, Chromies and Sparks Mlade Buky in Saturday's Page Playoffs.

GB Women qualify for the World Championships

The GB Women's Fastpitch Team have done it again -- qualifying for the World Championships for the second straight time by overcoming the Czech Republic 2-0 on August 5 at the European Women's Championships in Italy. GB can finish no lower than third, but will play tomorrow to see if they can finish even higher.

After a dramatic 4-2 extra-inning win over Russia on the evening of August 4 at the European Women's Championships in North East Italy, the GB Women's Fastpitch Team will play Spain on August 5 for a place in the last four and the Page Playoffs. The top three teams will qualify for next year's World Championships in Canada.

The GB Women's Fastpitch Team took no chances with France on the morning of August 4 in the second round at the European Women's Championships in Italy. GB's 9-3 win assured themselves of a playoff game tomorrow that can get them into the final-four Page Playoff.

GB Women lose tough 3-1 battle to the Dutch

Great Britain and the Netherlands staged a tough, high-class game of softball at the start of the second round in the 2011 European Women's Fastpitch Championships on Wednesday evening, August 3, before a packed crowd in the main stadium at Ronchi dei Legionari in North East Italy. But the Dutch had more hits and also had the better of both the luck and the umpiring, and won the game 3-1.
