GB Softball Teams poised for competition

Four GB Softball teams will be leaving the UK over the next couple of weeks for European and World Championship competitions in a year in which every GB national team will be in official ESF or ISF competition – the first time that has ever happened.

GB Juniors take four wins into the Worlds

The GB Junior (Under-19) Women's Fastpitch Team swept the board in four exhibition games leading up to the start of the Junior World Championships on1 July in Brampton, Ontario, Canada -- but the GB Team will now meet the USA and Canada on the first day of the competition.

GB Women to play at Farnham Park on 30 June

Come down to Farnham Park for 2.30 pm on Sunday afternoon 30 June, and watch the full GB Women's Fastpitch Team play an exhibition game against Great Britain Fastpitch League players. Everyone is invited to meet the team, see them play and give them a good send-off for the European Championships coming up in Prague.

Angels make it back to GBFL Division 1

The London Angels made it back to Division 1 of the Great Britain Fastpitch League (GBFL) with two wins behind the pitching of Kylie Marshall on Saturday 1 June at Richings Park. Meanwhile, the GB Under-16s came back to earth and went down to Division 2.

Baseball and softball make Olympic shortlist

Against many people's expectations, baseball and softball (or baseball-softball, as the sports are now known for Olympic purposes) have made a short list of three sports to be considered for inclusion in the 2020 Summer Olympic Games. The announcement was made by the International Olympic Committee's Executive Board on 29 May in St Peterburg, Russia.

GB U-16s keep up the pace in the GBFL

The Great Britain Under-16 Girls' Fastpitch Team decided to compete in Division 2 of the Great Britain Fastpitch League this season to get some experience prior to their European Championships in August. But the Under-16s shocked the league by gaining promotion to Division 1 on 18 May, and on 25 May they retained their place in the top division.

Meteors hold their own in Zeist but lose the 'Battle of Britain' The London Meteors Fastpitch Team headed to Zeist in the Netherlands on the weekend of May 17-20 to take part in the 30th anniversary of the annual high-level men's fastpitch Zeisterslot Tournament, and held their own against very stiff opposition.

GB Women's Team Head Coach Hayley Scott has announced final selections for the team that will compete in European Championships in Prague from 7-13 July, with qualification for the 2014 World Championships at stake.

A sports website called Inside the Games is running a poll on which sport should be added to the Olympic programme for 2020 – and at the moment, baseball and softball are lagging well behind karate, squash and wrestling.

GB U-16s go up, Angels go down in GBFL

It was another interesting day of action as the Great Britain Fastpitch League had its second outing of the season on Saturday 18 May at Richings Park. With promotion and relegation between Divisions 1 and 2 happening after each day's play, it was the GB Under-16 Girls who unexpectedly won promotion to Division 1, while Britain's leading women's club team, the London Angels, suffered an even more unexpected relegation to Division 2.
