Trials will be held on Saturday 22 February for any UK-based players interested in joining the GB Under-18 Men’s Fastpitch Team in 2020.
The trials will take place during the National Academy Softball session that day at the Alan Higgs Centre, Allard Way, Coventry, CV3 1HW.
The GB Under-18 Men’s Team will be competing in the European Under-18 Men’s Championship in July in the Czech Republic, and Head Coach Ian Tomlin is looking to add players to the squad following the aging out of a number of players since last season.
The GB Under-18 Men will also be entering a team in the Great Britain Fastpitch League (GBFL), which will be played at Farnham Park on dates between April and October (see http://www.britishsoftball.org/events for details), which will provide opportunities to train and compete against other men’s teams.
Specifications
The GB Under-18 Men’s Team is looking for players born between 2002 and 2006.
Ideally players will have had some softball or baseball experience and be capable of taking part in a competitive softball game, but previous fastpitch experience is not a requirement.
Any players who wish to attend the trials on 22 February should contact Team Manager Jill Russell to book a place, after which full details will be sent out.
If you are interested but unable to make the trial date, please let Jill know and every effort to arrange an alternative trial will be made.
Successful applicants will be invited to join the squad and attend planned events leading up to the European Championship.
