GB U-16s keep up the pace in the GBFL

The Great Britain Under-16 Girls' Fastpitch Team decided to compete in Division 2 of the Great Britain Fastpitch League this season to get some experience prior to their European Championships in August. But the Under-16s shocked the league by gaining promotion to Division 1 on 18 May, and on 25 May they retained their place in the top division.

ASA slowpitch coaches plan UK tour

Two high-level American slowpitch coaches with national and international experience will tour the UK from 20 June through 3 July to provide coach-training for team representatives from slowpitch leagues around the country. The tour is being supported by the American Amateur Softball Association (ASA) and the British Softball Federation.

Solent League has a busy April

GB U-16s go up, Angels go down in GBFL

It was another interesting day of action as the Great Britain Fastpitch League had its second outing of the season on Saturday 18 May at Richings Park. With promotion and relegation between Divisions 1 and 2 happening after each day's play, it was the GB Under-16 Girls who unexpectedly won promotion to Division 1, while Britain's leading women's club team, the London Angels, suffered an even more unexpected relegation to Division 2.

National Softball League to kick off at Diamond 1

The 2013 National Softball League (NSL) will kick off at the first Diamond Series tournament on May 11-12 at Farnham Park, with 12 teams signed up to play, one more than in 2012. Eight of those teams will qualify for the Premier Nationals at the end of the season.

Birmingham Softball League about to make history

The new Birmingham Softball League (BSL) will begin play in mid-May, marking the first softball league in the city for 10 years. Teams are currently preparing for the season by holding Softball4Beginners courses and pre-season friendlies.

Eighteen teams have fun at the Windsor First Ball

Eighteen mostly C-grade teams enjoyed a good day of softball at the Windsor First Ball tournament on a chilly Saturday 27 April at Farnham Park. While the weather was generally sunny, there was the odd freak hailstone and some random thunderclaps to make the day more interesting.

BSF sends out Nationals invitations

BSF Tournaments Officer Liz Graham has sent initial application forms to BSF-affiliated leagues and their 2012 division winners for the 2013 Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze (PGSB) Co-ed National Championships, to be played on the weekend of 10-11 August at Farnham Park near Slough.

Great Britain Fastpitch League starts on May 5

The Great Britain Fastpitch League (GBFL) will start its third season of play on Sunday 5 May at Richings Park Sports Club, with a new line-up of four senior teams in Division 1 and four in Division 2, but with promotion and relegation between the divisions after each day's play. The league will also include a three-team Under-13 Division.

GLSML development sessions to start June 3

The Greater London Softball Mixed League (GLSML) development programme will be in full flow again this summer, offering Monday night sessions in Regents Park, from June 3 through August 19, to anyone who wants to get into softball but has found it hard to find a spot in a league team.
