Photography competitions are back for 2013

The annual British Baseball and Softball Photography Competitions are back up and running for 2013. The competitions will be similar to last year's, with entrants being able to submit up to 24 photos during the contest, and £100 in photography vouchers on offer for the winners.

Baseball and softball present unified vision for the 2020 Olympic Games

The leaders of the new World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), an organisation formed by merging the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and the International Softball Federation (ISF), presented their unified vision for the inclusion of baseball and softball in the 2020 Olympic Games to the IOC's Olympic Programme Commission on December 19 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

IBAF and ISF agree on name for combined Federation

Following the historic votes of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and International Softball Federation (ISF) this autumn approving the formation of a unified international federation, IBAF and ISF leaders have announced the name of the new international federation that will govern both baseball and softball together: the World Baseball Softball Confederation.

Young British players get a taste of the Major Leagues

Nearly 200 young players got a personal taste of Major League Baseball on Saturday, 17 November when the 3rd annual European Big League Tour came to London for the first time and Major League players spent the day instructing at clinics, signing autographs and answering questions at the London Soccerdome.

Softball featured at Greater Manchester Sports Awards

Softball and baseball both had a presence at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards that took place on Friday evening, November 9 at the Lancashire County Cricket Club at Old Trafford, with more than 500 people in attendance. BSUK was one of the event sponsors, and while no awards went to either of our sports, they were prominent during the evening.

Letter to the IOC from the ISF and IBAF

International Softball Federation President Don Porter and International Baseball Federation President Riccardo Fraccari have written a joint letter to Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee, to confirm that the two sports are complying with IOC conditions for potential reinstatement to the Olympic programme.

ISF Congress approves ISF merger with IBAF

A Special Congress held by the International Softball Federation (ISF) on October 30 in Houston, Texas has voted with 71% in favour to combine with the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) to establish a new International Federation for softball and baseball, to be called the International Confederation of Softball and Baseball (ICSB).

Major League stars to run London youth clinics

Five Major League Baseball players, including Rick VandenHurk of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Jeremy Guthrie of the Kansas City Royals and Roger Bernadina of the Washington Nationals, will visit London on November 16 and 17 to participate in instructional clinics for young baseball and softball players. The clinics are part of the third annual European Big League Tour, which was conceived by Rick VandenHurk, a native of the Netherlands.

Leicestershire wins the first Battle of the Shires

A unique event in the annals of British baseball and softball had its inception on Sunday, September 23 when Leicestershire met Nottinghamshire in the first 'Battle of the Shires' Challenge – a one-day, three-game series consisting of fastpitch softball, baseball and slowpitch softball, with both counties forming co-ed teams in each discipline.

Olympic applicant sports face key inspections

The sports bidding for a spot on the programme at the 2020 Olympic Games will all face a key inspection before the end of the year at an Evaluation Event that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will attend for each discipline.
