The annual British Baseball and Softball Photography Competitions are back up and running for 2013.  The competitions will be similar to last year’s, with entrants being able to submit up to 24 photos during the contest, and £100 in photography vouchers on offer for the winners.

And as was the case last year, the judging panel will determine only shortlists, rather than adjudicating on the overall winners.  The winning photos for 2013 will be determined by an online vote among members of the British baseball and softball communities.  The winner’s prize in each competition will once again be £100 in photography vouchers, donated by BaseballSoftballUK.

“Photographer’s choice” awards will also be made by the judging panel, although these will not carry any prizes.

Submitting your entries

Entries for the 2013 Photography Competitions should be emailed to bbpc.bspc@gmail.com

Each submitted image should be accompanied by text including a one-sentence description of what the photo captures, the names of any people featured, their team or teams if applicable, and the date and location at which the photo was taken.  Entries will be accepted until the end of September.

The rules

Photos must have been taken in 2013 and must capture some aspect of British baseball or softball.  In addition to high-quality action shots, competition entries can also be photographs that show what happens around the periphery of the sport, in terms of spectators, umpires, coaches, managers, equipment, the field, the setting, and everything else that makes up the ethos of the games.

The competition is limited to photos that do not picture any individuals under the age of 18 years. By submitting a photo, the photographer is confirming that he or she has verified that any individuals featured in the image are aged 18 years or over.

Be sure to read the other competition rules before submitting.  These are available here.
