Open trials for the GB Co-ed Slowpitch Team will be held on Sunday, October 24 at the National Training Centre at Upper Heyford. The fact that European Slowpitch Championships will be played again in 2011 should provide an extra incentive for triallists.

The weather was mainly dry and sunny for the 20th anniversary edition of the Edinburgh Festiball, played at Peffermill Park on Bank Holiday weekend, August 28-29. Thirty-six teams took part in four levels of competition, with Slammers winning the top one, the Pentlands Cup.

GB Slowpitch Team Head Coach Mark Saunders has informed the BSF of his decision to stand down from the position. But Mark will be happy to stay on until a new Head Coach is appointed and the handover is satisfactorily completed.

The BSF, BSUK, BASU and the fastpitch community are combining to run a fastpitch umpire training course in September to create a larger pool of umpires for the increasing amount of fastpitch play in the UK. The course is open to anyone interested.

A second-place finish in the fifth and last National Softball League competition at the Bristol Main Tournament on August 21-22 was more than enough to give H2O the 2010 NSL title. BSUK created the Sefton Softball League in Greater Manchester this summer as part of its efforts to expand participation, and BSUK National Development Manager John Mills decided to attend the sessions. By losing their final game at the European Women's Cup-Winners A Pool Cup to Viladecans of Spain on August 20 by a score of 5-3, the London Angels Women's Fastpitch Team finished in tenth place and without a win at the competition, and will be relegated to the B Pool for 2011.

Saturday, August 21 – The Richings Park Penguins finished the European Women's B Pool Cup Tournament in San Marino on a winning note yesterday with an 8-5 comeback win over the Barracudas from Denmark. With three teams finishing on the same number of points, runs conceded left the Penguins in eighth place out of 11 teams.more
