The third World Vintage Softball Carnival is set to return to the beautiful Hawaiian island of Oahu from October 19-27, 2013. Teams and players over the age of 35 are invited to participate in what will be an exciting celebration of fastpitch and slowpitch softball in one of the world's great holiday destinations.
The Carnival will feature fastpitch sections for men's and women's teams and slowpitch sections for men's, women's and co-ed teams in four different age brackets – 35-44, 45-54, 55-64 and 65-and-over – and four ability brackets: competitive, semi-competition, once-were and social.
All games will be 90 minutes in duration and played under ASA rules. Teams will play a minimum of eight games including two grading games and a finals game.
Beautiful venues
All Games will be played at either the Central Oahu Regional Park Softball Complex, where 10 diamonds will be made available to the Carnival, or at Koko Head District Softball Park. Teams are guaranteed to play on excellent softball diamonds supported by excellent facilities and there will be the opportunity for some teams to play games under floodlights.
Formed in 2007, Vintage Softball has hosted carnivals in Rotorua, New Zealand in 2007 and Hawaii in 2009. The third Vintage Softball Carnival was scheduled for Christchurch, New Zealand in 2013, but following an unfortunate series of earthquakes and aftershocks resulting in Christchurch suffering extensive damage, the tough decision to relocate the Carnival was made.
Strong interest
More than 20 teams have already expressed a strong interest in attending from countries including the Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA, with additional interest from local Hawaiian teams.
All teams wishing to take part in the 2013 World Vintage Softball Carnival must complete the Official Carnival Entry Form and chose a Carnival Package. Full Carnival packages have been prepared to suit all budgets based on eight nights and are split into three categories; Gold (4-5 star), Silver (3-4 star) and Bronze (2-3 star). These categories will include hotels and apartments.
There are also have Non-Accommodation Packages for any teams or players who do not require accommodation through Vintage Softball during the Carnival.
Although Vintage Softball Packages do not include airfares, the organisation's in-house travel agent, The Event Travel Office, can assist teams in booking flights to Hawaii.
The entry fee is US$200 per team.
