The BSF is looking to hire a new Head Coach for the U18 Men’s National Fastpitch Team. Long time Head Coach Ian Tomlin has stepped down after 7 years leading the team, so the Federation is excited at the opportunity for new leadership to step in and lead the Juniors into the future.
The new Head Coach would of course be expected to lead the U18 national team abroad in competition, with the next U18 European championship taking place in 2026. Domestically, the new Head Coach would also lead training sessions, player development, talent scouting, and team selection.
However, the new Head Coach would also be expected to work with the other Men’s program coaches, in particular Senior Men’s Team Head Coach Darryl Herrmann, to develop elite national team talent as the Men’s program continues to grow and develop.
Under Ian’s steady leadership over the last several years the U18s program has gone from strength to strength. This culminated in their excellent performance at the 2023 U18 European Championship where GB finished a strong 4th, losing a close 4:1 affair in the bronze medal game, GB’s strongest U18 performance under Ian’s tenure.
The Federation is looking for the next Head Coach to build off this successful platform and continue developing the program and developing talented players to go on and represent GB at higher levels within the national program.
All applications will be assessed before being narrowed down for interviews with National Team Officer Dr Alice Hunter, Senior Men’s Head Coach Darryl Hermann, and other members of the GBMC (Great Britain Management Committee), before a final selection and hiring is made.
