Twenty teams took to the field at Clifton College Sports Ground for the Bristol Main Tournament on the weekend of 1-2 July on a beautiful weekend of sunshine with a cool breeze and temperatures around 23 degrees on Sunday.

Six teams were in the Comp section and 14 in Rec, and there were some ‘beautiful’ tanlines as the weekend wore on!

Comp

Both The A Team and KK dominated the round-robin stage in the Comp section, with only one loss each.  In fact, The A Team had only one loss all weekend, and that was to KK in the round-robin.

But when KK faced The A Team in the Cup final, they couldn’t repeat their earlier winning performance.

In the Comp Plate final, the Bristol Bees took on LSDs once again and they were determined not to repeat the defeat they had suffered in the round-robin.  Their determination saw them through, and the Bees took a close game by a single run.

Rec

In the Rec Cup final, Bristol Creamers faced the Oxford Angels, who took control of the game from the start.  It was a matter of one game too many for the Creamers.

The Rec Plate final was a very close game played between TV Hurricane and Manchester Fish, with TV Hurricane winning by just the one run.

A couple of ‘Spirit of Softball’ games were played, with the winners being Coventry Blitz and Chichester Falcons.
