The 2011 softball season got off to a great start in warm spring sunshine at Fakenham High School in Norfolk over the weekend of April 16-17.

On Saturday the dedicated field at the high school, looking immaculate and well prepared for the new season, was opened up to Fakenham Rugby Club Juniors, who were hosting a touring Leicester Vipers team. The players and parents enjoyed a full afternoon of slowpitch action.

Twins in town

On Sunday, Fakenham entertained players from the Olivet Red Castors Softball Club (Olivet is Fakenham's twin town, located near Orleans in France). In the morning 20 girls completed a full seven-inning fastpitch game supported by Fakenham Team Manager Rachel Morely and Coaches Michael Baron, Tilly Baron and Tom Priscott.

In the afternoon over 40 players took part in a three-team slowpitch competition.

The weekend was a great success and points toward a fun season ahead. The next action on the diamond takes place on Thursday, April 21 from 7.00-9.00 pm, the final open practice session before the league season starts on Thursday, April 28.
