Sixteen teams from across the country assembled at Powerleague Trafford on Saturday 1 December for the 4th Manchester Indoor Softball Tournament.  Teams travelled from as far afield as Bracknell from the south and York from the north.

Two groups of eight teams played a round-robin and were then split into four placing groups: gold, silver, bronze and foil.  Teams played a total of 10 games over the course of the day, including finals.

Variations

With nine Manchester-based teams and the remaining seven coming from Leeds, York, Liverpool and Bracknell, the tournament gave Manchester Indoor regulars a chance to play against a variety of opponents.

BaseballSoftballUK North West Development Manager Luis Arrevillagas said, “This is our fourth indoor tournament in two years.  We love hosting these events and seeing how indoor softball is growing in the UK.  Thanks to the captains who brought along teams from up and down the country and to our umpires who do a great job in such fast games.  Look out for the Spring 2019 tournament -- date to be announced very soon!”

North West Coach Linni Mitchell added, “I always enjoy running these tournaments for softballers who are so in love with the indoor version of the game.  It’s high-paced and energetic and gives everyone on the team a good run around in the short games.  Thanks to all who attended and congratulations to all of our winners.”

Danny Gunn, who played for gold winners Mavericks, commented, “Top day with the Mavericks at Manchester indoor Softball Tournament.  It’s awesome that we have seven pitches next to each other to play on and make the event the size it is.  Many thanks to Luis and Linni for making it all happen.”
