All 66 games from the International Softball Federation's XIII Women’s World Championships, to be played from July 13-22 in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, will be streamed and available to fans around the world – including all games that the GB Women's Fastpitch Team will play in the competition.
“We are extremely pleased that fans around the world will be able to see the action from Whitehorse,” said ISF President Don Porter. “We know that the worldwide softball community will be looking to interact with the tournament regardless of their location, so having all of the games online is a perfect meeting place to accomplish that.”
Live and free
All games from the tournament will be streamed live, with no fee involved for viewers, and games will also be recorded and archived for on-demand viewing as well.
Starting on July 13, games can be viewed on www.sportscanada.tv and viewers will be able to interact through a Twitter feed embedded next to the video player.
Sixteen teams will contest the ten-day tournament: Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, South Africa, the USA and Venezuela. The Americans are defending champions, having won the 12th edition of the event that took place in 2010 in Caracas, Venezuela. Great Britain finished in 11th place in Venezuela.
2012 is the first year that the ISF World Championships are starting an every-two-years rotation, after having been held every four years while softball was also on the programme of the Olympic Games.
