Following questions raised by the BSF’s new Athletes Commission, which in turn reflect questions raised by players, the BSF has now published information on this website to explain the coverage provided by its Public Liability insurance for affiliated teams.

This insurance is provided through annual team affiliation fees.

Personal Accident insurance, which the BSF also provides, requires an opt-in by leagues on behalf of all their teams, and is paid for by a small additional premium.

The key point about the BSF’s Public Liability insurance is that teams are insured rather than individual named players.  This means that any player who plays for an affiliated team over the course of a season is regarded by the insurers as covered.
