British Softball Federation is delighted to announce that Kim Hannessen is inducted into the British Softball Federation Hall of Fame in recognition of her outstanding and selfless contribution to GB Softball between 2014 and 2024.

An accredited Exercise Physiologist, Kim volunteered as Sports Therapist for both the GB Women’s and U19 programmes over more than a decade. She supported Great Britain at five World Championships, a World Cup group stage, four European Championships, the European Super 6 Tournament, and an Olympic Qualifier, consistently delivering professional medical and performance support.

Kim’s role was central to athlete welfare and readiness, encompassing pre-tournament medical screenings, injury management, first-aid coordination, pre-game preparation, acute-injury response and post-game recovery. Her expertise extended into strength and conditioning, with tailored programmes that were praised for their effectiveness and motivational delivery.

Well respected by athletes, coaches and staff, Kim also led the recruitment and mentoring of Sports Therapists across all GB National Teams. She played a key role in developing the BSF’s concussion and head-injury protocols and organised first-aid provision across the GBFL. Through her initiative, she secured a sponsorship agreement with Physique, providing ongoing benefits in first-aid and rehabilitation products for GB Softball.

Kim’s dedication—often giving her own leave to support national teams long before funded positions were available—has left a lasting and positive legacy on British Softball.
