The British Softball Federation and Head Coach Tara Henry have today announced the 37 athletes invited to training camp ahead of the 2027 European Championship and LA28 Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifier. Great Britain’s Florida Olympic Training Camp will be held in Tampa, Florida in December 2026 at the University of South Florida, the alma mater of British Softball Hall of Famer and current GBR player Georgina Corrick.
“We are excited to start our Olympic Qualification campaign as a programme in an environment that gives us the opportunity to get better each day. The 37 athletes invited to camp represent a commitment to identify and develop the best possible team to represent Great Britain and qualify for the opportunity to play at the LA28 games,” said Olympic Head Coach Tara Henry.
“This training camp is an important milestone and USF’s facilities give our athletes a world-class environment to train and compete together. Training Camp will build on the foundational values and culture established over the last few years, and gives us the best chance to make history next July.”
The training camp will be the largest in programme history, bringing together athletes from all age groups as well as prospects identified through an international recruitment campaign. Following training camp, the programme will announce the long-list roster for the 2027 European Championships in January, with the final roster to be announced in July. Selections for the long list and final roster will be made in accordance with the British Softball Federation’s selection policy, which can be viewed here.

“This training camp represents another significant step forward in the evolution of the Great Britain Softball programme, said Gary Anderson, Great Britain Softball Performance Director. “Over the last four years we have built a very positive trajectory, but what has been particularly encouraging is the immense growth in the maturity, depth and professionalism of the programme over the last two years.”
“The 2027 European Championship and the LA28 Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifier are not simply two tournaments on a calendar. They are critical milestones in our Olympic journey, and we are approaching them with the level of preparation, detail and accountability that those opportunities demand.”
The 2027 European Championships will take place from 25-31 July 2027 in Stuttgart Germany, with five teams advancing to the Women's Softball Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifier, to take place in Barcelona at a date to be announced. Spain, as hosts of the LA28 qualifier, will receive an automatic spot in the tournament, where they will be joined by the top 4 teams from the European Championships and the African champion. Great Britain played in the 2019 Women's Softball Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifier, where they were defeated in the qualification game by Italy ahead of the Tokyo 2020 games.
