Great Britain Women’s U-18 National Fastpitch Team Head Coach Tara Tembey and the British Softball Federation have today selected the 15 players to represent Great Britain at the 2025 U-18 European Softball Championship in Navarra, Spain from 21-26 July.
Great Britain, the 11th-ranked team in the latest WBSC/KONAMI World Rankings, will participate in its first U18 competition since last year’s U18 Softball World Cup Group A in São Paulo, Brazil. Eighteen teams will compete in the U18 European Championships, with groups to be announced before the competition. This is the sixth U18 European Championship, and the fifth featuring Great Britain, who won the programme’s first-ever gold medal at the 2016 U18 European Championships, also in Spain.
Athletes were selected in accordance with the 2025 British Softball Federation Women’s Performance Programme Selection Policy and Criteria. The 15 members of the roster are as follows:
Madi Bell
Abigail Chan
Elena Clark-Wilson
Lily Daniels
Amelia Devonport
Kora Douglass
Kailyn Haig
Amy Hartle
Rebecca Longman
Adelaide Joaquin
Nia Phillips
Sydney Teague
Jenna Thompson
Georgia Storms
Hannah Walker
A further player may be named to the roster before the competition.
The U18 roster returns seven players from last year’s U-18 Softball World Cup Pool A Team, including Chan, Clarke-Wilson, Daniels (Reserve), Haig, Hartle, Thompson and Teague. Clark-Wilson, Hartle, and Thompson played for three different Great Britain Softball age groups last year, winning European Bronze with the U22s and Silver with the Senior National Team. Sydney Teague rejoins the U18s after being the only foreign player invited to participate in USA Softball’s HPP High-Performance Camp in December. Bell makes her first GBR U18 roster along with Davenport, Douglass, Joaquin, Phillips, Storms and Walker, with Bell, Storms, and Longman playing in the U15 European Championships last year.
Great Britain Head of Performance Gary Anderson commented, "The U18 age group plays a key role in the upward trajectory of the programme, with this cohort of players tracked across key stages of their development. We are excited to see how the U18s perform in competition this year as an important benchmark in our preparation for the LA2028 Olympic Games."
Great Britain Softball Olympic Head Coach Tara Henry added, “The U18 European Championship is our first opportunity to see this group of players compete in Europe since 2023 and kicks off an exciting year of competition for the Great Britain Softball programme. These athletes will not only play a key role in our push for the LA28 Olympics, but also for the 2032 Olympic cycle, and we are determined to ensure they are the best prepared they can be now and for the future. Congratulations to all the selected athletes.”
Tembey said, "As we prepare to compete in the U18 European Championships, I am incredibly proud of the talent and determination displayed by this team. With a strong blend of experienced players and fresh faces, we are poised to build on our past successes and continue pushing for excellence"
