Monday 13 June -- The 2022 season for Softball Europe Championship and Cup competitions will get under way this week, with the European Men’s Slowpitch Championship in the spotlight and the defending champion GB Men’s Slowpitch Team hoping to bring home another gold medal.

The second-ever European Men’s Slowpitch Championship – the first was held in 2018 and the next one, scheduled for 2020, was a victim of the pandemic – will be played from 14-18 June in Colorno, Italy, about 60 miles northwest of Bologna.

Six countries have entered and have been seeded in the following order:

Great Britain
Germany
Ireland
Belgium
The Netherlands
Italy

Schedule

The six teams will play a single round-robin from Tuesday through Thursday, a placing round on Friday, and then the top four teams will take part in a Page Playoff on Saturday to decide the medals while the remaining two teams will play off for fifth place.

GB will open the tournament with a game against Belgium at 9.00 am local time (8.00 am in the UK) on Tuesday 14 June and will play The Netherlands at 3.00 pm that afternoon.

On Wednesday, GB will play Italy at 9.00 am and Germany at 3.00 pm, and will finish the round-robin stage of the tournament with a game at 9.00 am on Thursday against Ireland.
