The British Softball Federation and Performance Director Gary Anderson have today appointed Ieuan Gale as Head Coach of the Great Britain U-15 Women’s Fastpitch Softball Team.

A longtime softball player in the United Kingdom, Gale has represented Great Britain as a member of the Men’s National Fastpitch Team for nine years and has coached in the UK since 2019. Gale holds a master’s degree in war studies from King’s College London and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kent. The Monmouthshire, Wales native has been involved in British Softball for more than 14 years and served as the Federation’s president from 2021-2023.

Gale plays in the Great Britain Fastpitch League for the Stags, the UK’s representative in the European Super Cup 2024. He has also served as Head Coach of The Mix, one of Great Britain’s premier Fastpitch Softball clubs, and a perennial participant in European competitions. Gale’s coaching career started with the Stags in 2019, with experience in both the UK and in the Dutch Men’s Premier Division.

Gale also has experience coaching in North America, spending 2023 with the Stars National Organization as a U-16 Assistant coach, and 2024 as U-18 Assistant Coach with the South Jersey Gators Fastpitch. Away from softball, Gale works as a copywriter and content producer.

“Ieuan brings a unique perspective to the Women’s Softball programme, and we are excited to have someone with his experience lead the youngest Great Britain Softball age group,” said Olympic Performance Director Gary Anderson. “With the U-15 cohort key to building a sustainable high-performance programme, Ieuan will play a key role in their development, and in the future of the programme.”

“Development starts at the youth level and I’m excited to have Ieuan Gale play a part in that growth, said Olympic Head Coach Tara Henry. “Gale is a strong addition to the GB Women’s program as he takes the helm of the U-15 team. His experience, both in the UK and internationally, will be key in developing the next generation of GB Softball. Looking forward to seeing the impact he makes.”

“I am thrilled to be a part of the GB women's program at such an exciting time,” said Gale. “With the future of international women's softball looking brighter than ever, the GB program seems poised to take that next step. And with the best programs starting at the youth level, I am excited to play a part in that growth.”

“As Head Coach of the GB U15s team, I’ll have the opportunity to work with athletes based both in the U.K. and overseas as we build towards the 2026 European Championship and beyond,” continued Gale. “I'd like to thank all the organisations I've worked with that have helped me grow as a coach, particularly the South Jersey Gators, the NFCA, the Stags, and the Mix. I can’t wait to get stuck in!”
