The Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) and the European Softball Federation (ESF) will return to staging a joint annual Congress in 2013.

The two European regional Federations held their annual Congresses together through 2005, but have held separate Congresses on separate dates and in different locations since that time.

The ESF Executive voted to support the idea of a joint Congress at a meeting on the weekend of April 14-15.  The CEB Board had already voted in favour of the concept at its Congress in March.

The joint 2013 Congress will be held on February 15-17, 2013, but a venue will not be decided until May.  Bids to host the event can be submitted until April 30.

Joint projects

The impetus to return to joint Congresses comes from the fact that CEB and the ESF are working more closely together on a number of issues.

The main issue is a joint bid to return to the Olympic programme as male and female formats of the same sport.  But CEB and the ESF are also working together on youth development initiatives, facility development and other projects.
