After a fantastic trial run in 2021, the BSUK Slowpitch Cup returns to Farnham Park in 2022!
This year, the Cup will be split into two divisions, COMP and REC, in order to provide even more teams and players an opportunity to get involved. Once again, The Slowpitch Cup will be contested using the dynamic Fully Loaded format, popularised in Australia! This format makes for fast and furious play, with quick and fast-paced action.
There will be separate weekends for REC (30 April - 1 May) and COMP teams (7 - 8 May). This means that NSL1 and NSL2 rostered players will not be permitted for the REC weekend.
Who’s the tournament aimed at?
The tournament welcomes teams competing at all levels, with the only restrictions related to NSL 1 & NSL 2 players. Teams of all ages and abilities are encouraged to register – BSUK will help you find the proper division if you have questions. Please make sure to state your preferred level, and the standard level of play for your team when you register.
The Fully-Loaded Format
Most of the normal WSBC Slowpitch Softball rules will apply. You can view those here [LINK]. However, the Fully Loaded format, first popularised in Australia, sprinkles in a few fun modifications, including:
- Every inning starts with runners on all bases (starting at the bottom of the order and rotating back up the order each inning)
- Fast transitions - teams sprint out and back during changeovers, there’s no warm up pitching or throwing the ball around endlessly.
- Each batter has a 1-1 count when coming up to bat. A great way to encourage hitting.
- Each game will last 45 minutes or 3 innings - whichever comes first.
