BaseballSoftballUK is seeking to expand its Commercial team with a dedicated Events and Facilities Manager and a Content Marketing Executive.

Applications will be particularly welcomed from women, ethnic minorities or those who identify as LGBTQ+.

Skills and Experience

As a growing sports development business with a need to demonstrate and develop our commercial relevance and independence, BaseballSoftballUK has identified that experience in the following roles and areas would be helpful for the positions we are seeking to fill:

  • Event management
  • Facilities management
  • Marketing, communications and public relations
  • Social media, video and webstreaming
  • Commercial / Income generation

The roles

Both roles will report to the Head of Commercial.  The value statement for each role is as follows:

Events and Facilities Manager:

“You will use strong event management experience to inform and deliver against BSUK’s commercial strategy to generate additional revenues and reduce reliance on Sport England funding.  As an experienced event manager, you will deliver commercially-focused events that generate additional revenues for the organisation.  You will understand marketing and promotion techniques, bring fresh ideas and have the organisational skills not only to make sure events are run professionally but to maximise every opportunity.  In particular, you will directly manage Farnham Park, the UK’s only dedicated baseball and softball facility, ensuring that the operation runs smoothly and that events -- our own and those of our customers -- are delivered seamlessly.

Content Marketing Executive:

“You will drive BSUK’s marketing activity to attract and engage all audience types including existing players and fans (our community), non-players (prospects) and local and national media, in order to grow our databases, create value for our community and ultimately create revenue generating opportunities.  Specifically, you will design and drive marketing initiatives covering the creation, delivery and optimisation of campaigns and content in a range of formats and on a variety of platforms.”

The specific duties involved in these roles are varied and are detailed in the individual job specifications:

An interest in baseball/softball is preferred but direct playing experience is not essential.

What is common to both roles, however, is an absolute commitment to take our organisation forward, deliver a second-to-none experience for our community and customers and create financial independence through marketing excellence.

Key Competencies

  • A proven ability to use marketing as a mechanism to engage and delight audiences.
  • An ability to think and act strategically and unlock the commercial potential in all our activities.
  • An understanding of financial management.
  • An ability to work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders and autonomously when required.
  • A self-starter ‘can do’ mentality with the ability to see projects through to conclusion.
  • The ability to communicate creatively, concisely and effectively.
  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • A creative approach to problem-solving.

About BaseballSoftballUK

BaseballSoftballUK is the development agency for baseball and softball in the UK, set up as a joint venture of the British Baseball and Softball Federations, who are our two Members.

Our vision is for our sports to be “played in every park.”  Our key areas of work are growing the number of adults and young people playing regularly in teams and improving the sporting experience for those people who participate in the sports, while reducing our current reliance on government funding from Sport England.

The Organisation

BaseballSoftballUK is a company limited by guarantee and governed by a Board.  The organisation is headed by a Chief Executive Officer and has an 11-strong staff team split across Commercial, Operations and Development departments, with a multi-cultural background.  Most staff are based in the London office (Borough, SE1 4YB) but some development staff are regionally based.

BSUK is also responsible for managing Farnham Park, its dedicated playing facility near Slough in Buckinghamshire, consisting of four multi-use fields which host everything from development events and local play to national and international competitions plus an associated clubhouse and catering operation.  The facility is the only one of its kind in the UK.
