The GB Senior Women’s National Team finished their pre-European Championship training camp with a send-off barbecue meal at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre on Monday 18 July, and two members of the team received their BSF Hall of Fame awards during the event.

The two people presented with Hall of Fame trophies by former BSF President Jenny Fromer, in the absence of the current President, Ieuan Gale, were long-time GB player Amy Moore, who has come out of retirement to re-join the team this year, and GB Women’s Head Coach Rachael Watkeys.

The awards were presented by former BSF President Jenny Fromer in the absence of the current President, Ieuan Gale.

Amy Moore was a committed GB Women’s Team player from 2012 through the Olympic Qualifier which the team narrowly lost in 2019.  She played for the GB Women in four World Championships and four European Championships, sometimes playing through injury and pain to help the team.

A fearless and effective catcher and an elite hitter against top-class pitching, Amy has been an astute student of the game, always looking for ways to give her team an edge.

In 74 games with the GB Women prior to this year, Amy hit .354, with an on-base percentage of .408.

Rachael Watkeys dramatically improved the GB Junior Women’s Team programme when she took it on as Head Coach in 2013 after her GB Women’s Team playing career ended, and she took the Under-19 Women to two World Championships.

She then led the GB Senior Women’s Team to medals at two European Championships and the European Super 6 Tournament and took the team to two World Championships and to the brink of Olympic qualification in 2019 as well as to our current #12 world ranking.

Rachael has helped professionalise every aspect of the GB Women’s Team programme, leading to the receipt of valuable UK Sport funding.
