The British softball community has suffered two very sad losses over the past few days, with news of the deaths of Manchester Thunder and GB Slowpitch Team player Zak Haq, and former Slammers and GB Women's Fastpitch Team player Fleur Edgerton-Meyer, who has lived and played softball in France for the past decade.

The Manchester Softball League Facebook page says:

Zak Haq“It fills us with a deep sense of shock and sadness to report that Club Thunder and GB player Zak Haq passed away yesterday (2 December).  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.  Teammates and opponents alike will no doubt share a huge sense of grief and loss at this time.”

The French Baseball and Softball Federation website says:

Fleur Edgerton-Meyer“It is with huge sadness that we have learned about the death of Fleur Edgerton-Meyer, who passed away on the evening of 29 November at the age of 42, having struggled with courage and determination against breast cancer.  Fleur was a marvellous teammate and coach with Paris BAT, and we share the sorrow of her husband, Josh, and her three young children.”
