Training Officer Chris Moon has confirmed that BASU will be running eight two-day qualification courses and five one-day introductory courses for umpires between now and the end of April.

Two-day courses

The first two-day qualification course has already taken place, on the weekend of May 3-4 in Edinburgh.  Upcoming qualification courses are:

  • March 24-25 for the East Midland Softball League in Nottingham.
  • March 31-April for the Manchester Softball League.
  • April 14-15 for the British Airways Softball Club, the Greater London Softball Mixed League and the Jersey Softball Association.
  • April 21-22 for the Bristol Softball Association.
  • April 28-29 for the Guernsey Softball Association.

One-day courses

One-day introductory courses will be run for the Greater London Softball Mixed League on March 31 and April 1, the Solent Softball League on April 22 and the Bristol Softball Association on April 28 and 29.

Advanced course

BASU is also planning to run a one-day Advanced Course for experienced BASU umpires, probably at the end of April or beginning of May at a venue to be confirmed.  This course is designed in part to prepare BASU umpires to go on to attain European Softball Federation qualification.
