Congratulations to all of the winners of 2025 BSF awards, announced at the BSF AGM on 21 February:
The Tournament of the Year Award - Dinoball

Dinoball, run by the Oxford Softball League, has become a highlight of the softball calendar—an open, co-ed slowpitch event that brings together recreational teams for a day of great competition, laughter, and community spirit in the historic city of Oxford.
From fun games on the field to the smiles off it, this tournament captured everything we love about softball: inclusivity, enthusiasm, and pure enjoyment of the game. Social, competitive, and full of energy, Dinoball has quickly earned its reputation as one of the most fun and memorable events of the year.
Congratulations to everyone involved—from organisers to players and supporters! Your passion and effort have truly made Dinoball a standout event in British Softball.
The Youth Team of the Year Award for outstanding performance or development achievement - Maidenhead Softball Club

Maidenhead has set the standard for youth development in British softball. Over the past year, their programme has gone from strength to strength — not only growing in numbers, but in confidence, skill, and community spirit.
They have been pioneers in youth fastpitch, running one of the UK’s only dedicated U15 programmes for the past three years, and now boldly expanding to welcome children as young as four years old. That vision and courage to create an early pathway into the sport is remarkable, and it is already shaping the future of softball in this country.
Under the passionate leadership of Alan Le Marquand, supported by Lucinda and a dedicated team of volunteers, Maidenhead has built more than just a team — they’ve built a community. Parents speak of the pride their children feel in wearing their kit, the friendships formed through social events, and the confidence their children have gained both on and off the field.
This programme goes beyond teaching softball skills. It nurtures teamwork, respect, resilience, and a genuine love of the game. The impact on young players and their families is clear, meaningful, and lasting.
The Young Male Fastpitch Player of the Year Award - Toby Tredgett

Toby joined the GB Fastpitch programme in 2024 and immediately made an impression at the autumn trials. Through hard work and commitment at winter training, he earned selection to the U23 Men’s Fastpitch team — an outstanding achievement at just 16 years old.
He continued his development during the domestic season with Eagles in the GBFL and was a regular selection at first base for the U23 Europeans in July, where he performed with maturity and confidence beyond his years.
What truly sets Toby apart is his attitude. He is a fantastic team player, consistently positive, and always eager to learn. He actively seeks feedback from coaches and shows a genuine commitment to improving his game.
Now selected for the extended U18 squad ahead of the 2026 Europeans, Toby represents an exciting future for GB Men’s Fastpitch.
The Young Female Fastpitch Player of the Year Award - Jenna Thompson

Jenna has had an outstanding year representing Great Britain at both the U18 and Senior level — a remarkable achievement that reflects not only her talent, but her maturity and leadership.
In Pamplona with the U18s, Jenna delivered a superb performance, playing in all seven games and batting .440, with three triples, a double, 11 hits, 7 runs scored and 5 RBIs — all while handling challenging tournament conditions with composure and resilience.
She then stepped up once again for the Senior National Team in Prague, playing third base in her second senior selection and batting .304, contributing 7 RBIs and 9 runs scored across nine games. Jenna was the only player to compete in every single GBR game this year across both age groups — an incredible testament to her consistency and fitness.
Her performances helped secure a third consecutive European medal for the senior team and qualification for the 2026 WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup.
Beyond Great Britain, Jenna has committed to Purdue University to continue her collegiate career at NCAA Division 1 level, while also earning multiple local and state honours in the United States.
Jenna is not only a fantastic athlete, but a natural leader and role model for younger players coming through the programme. Her work ethic, determination, and calm presence set her apart.
The Glover Cup for outstanding long-term service to softball by an administrator or organiser - Bridget Cameron

Bridget has dedicated more than thirty years to umpiring, with over a decade representing British Softball at national and international level. She has officiated across GBFL, national slowpitch events, WBSC Europe competitions, and at International World Championships — serving the game with professionalism, integrity, and deep knowledge.
In 2024, Bridget umpired her final WBSC Europe tournament, closing an exceptional chapter of international on-field officiating. But retirement from active umpiring certainly did not mean stepping away. She has since transitioned into WBSC Europe UIC responsibilities, officiated two tournaments in that capacity, and contributed to the rewriting of the WBSC Umpires Manual — shaping the future of officiating at the highest level.
Here at home, Bridget continues to give back tirelessly: taking base umpire assignments in GBFL, mentoring and assessing fastpitch umpires, and running umpire education courses to strengthen and grow the talent pipeline within Great Britain.
Bridget’s service has been long, distinguished, and deeply impactful. Her leadership, mentorship, and commitment embody everything this award represents.
The President’s Club Award for outstanding performance or development by an affiliated club or team - Bangers & Smash (LSL Div 6)

What makes this achievement so special is just how quickly this team has grown. Only two years ago, Bangers & Smash graduated from the LSL 101 development programme — and since then, they simply haven’t stopped.
Eighteen league games. Nineteen tournament weekends. Indoor softball through the off-season. And on top of that, meeting every single Sunday in Victoria Park — rain or shine — to practise together. That level of commitment speaks volumes.
In 2025, their hard work paid off in spectacular fashion. Bangers & Smash topped the LSL Division 6 table with an incredible 17 wins and just one loss — a phenomenal season built on dedication, teamwork, and a genuine love of the game.
They represent everything this award celebrates: development, ambition, community spirit, and outstanding performance.
The Umpire of the Year Award - Jason Smith

In recent years, Jason’s umpiring has come on leaps and bounds. He has developed into not only a highly respected official on the field, but a genuine rules expert — someone players and coaches trust for his knowledge and clarity.
What truly sets Jason apart is his game management. Whether it’s a regular season fixture or a high-pressure playoff final — and he’s earned plenty of those appointments — he handles every situation with composure, balance, and authority.
He communicates proactively, stays calm under pressure, and applies the rules consistently and fairly. It’s telling that across an entire season, it’s hard to recall a single disagreeable call — a testament to both his judgement and the respect he commands.
