The 2014 BSF AGM will be held in Manchester on Saturday 22 February 2014, with workshop sessions in the morning and the formal AGM in the afternoon.

An AGM Pack will be published at the end of January 2014.

Venue

The AGM, which alternates each year between the North and South, will be held at the same venue as in 2012: the Hough End Centre, Mauldeth Road West, Manchester M21 7SX.

Times and the content of morning workshop sessions will be announced shortly.  One of the workshop sessions will be a report from the BSF Nationals Working Group that will meet on 11 January 2014.

Anyone with suggestions for other issues or topics which could be the subject of morning workshop sessions should email BSF Administrator Vicky Hall by Wednesday 15 January 2014.

Attendance requirements

The BSF has certain requirements in force regarding AGM attendance:

1)  All leagues that wish to have a team or teams from their league compete in National Championships need to send a representative to the AGM.

2)  All National Softball League (NSL), Platinum and Gold teams that wish to play in the 2014 Co-ed Slowpitch National Championships need to be represented at the AGM.  Silver and Bronze teams may be represented through attendance by their League Head.

Voting

Each League or Team present can cast one vote.  No postal or email votes are possible.

Motions to the AGM

Anyone wishing to submit a motion to be considered at the AGM should email the text of the motion plus the rationale behind it to BSF Administrator Vicky Hall no later than Wednesday 15 January 2014.

Nominations for the BSF Executive

Annual elections to the BSF Board of Directors and Executive Committee will take place at the BSF AGM in Manchester on 22 February, and the BSF is looking for members of the softball community who would like to contribute to the sport’s governing body and to running softball in Britain.

Members of the Board of Directors and Executive serve on a voluntary basis for one-year terms, so every position on the Executive is open for nomination each year.

The BSF is incorporated as a company limited by guarantee; therefore all those elected to the Board are also Directors of the company, with limited liability.

Board positions

The following positions on the Board are open for nomination:

President
Administrator
Treasurer
Tournaments Officer
National Teams Officer
Youth & Schools Officer
Marketing Officer
Communications Officer
Membership Officer
General Officer (two can be elected)

The Technical Officer is nominated by BASU and is therefore not elected at the AGM.

There are also two Non-Director posts on the Executive open for nomination:

    Welfare Officer
    London Leagues Liaison Officer

Criteria

Nominations should include information on the candidate's softball background and a brief statement  of the candidate's skills and experience for the nominated post.

Third-party nominations must include an indication that the person nominated is willing to stand.

Nominations should be sent to BSF Administrator Vicky Hall no later than Wednesday 15 January 2014.
