• New National Academy session scheduled

  7 January 2013

  A new National Academy Softball session has been scheduled for Saturday, 23 March to make up for the session missed in December. This new National Academy session replaces Regional Academy sessions previously scheduled on that date in London and Nottingham. A national GB training session will now be held at Milton Keynes on Sunday, 24 March.

• Ex-softballer receives CBE in New Year Honours List

  Ian Livingstone, a long-time pitcher for the Raiders Men's Slowpitch Team and the 69ers (more recently Niners) co-ed team in the 1980s and 90s, has been advanced from an OBE to a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the New Year Honours List for services to the computer gaming industry.

• GB Fastpitch teams looking for Team Managers

  1 January 2013

  In 2013, all seven GB national teams will be playing in official ESF or ISF tournaments overseas -- the first time this has ever happened. And three teams are looking for Team Managers.

• Baseball and softball present unified vision for the 2020 Olympic Games

  The leaders of the new World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), an organisation formed by merging the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and the International Softball Federation (ISF), presented their unified vision for the inclusion of baseball and softball in the 2020 Olympic Games to the IOC's Olympic Programme Commission on December 19 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

• IBAF and ISF agree on name for combined Federation

  Following the historic votes of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and International Softball Federation (ISF) this autumn approving the formation of a unified international federation, IBAF and ISF leaders have announced the name of the new international federation that will govern both baseball and softball together: the World Baseball Softball Confederation.

• Slowpitch coaching available through the BSF

  The British Softball Federation is offering to support the cost of a coaching clinic and game management assistance from GB Slowpitch Team coaches and players for a number of co-ed slowpitch teams at B-grade and C-grade level.

• European Slowpitch Cup video available

  11 December 2012

  An entertaining 25-minute video shot on the final day of last summer's European Slowpitch Cup is now available to watch or download from a European slowpitch website.

• New dates for League Heads Forum and AGM, but combined Co-ed Nationals is still in doubt

  The British Softball Federation Executive has announced new dates for its League Heads Forum and AGM in early 2013. But the Executive is still unable to make a final decision on whether the 2013 Co-ed National Championships will be a combined tournament with all grades of play, including the Premier Nationals.
