East Midlands Labor Day Tournament goes green

The East Midlands Softball League has announced that this year's annual Labor Day Tournament, scheduled for the weekend of September 15-16 in Leicester, may be the first in the country to offer a full recycling facility on each pitch.

Four national championships settled at Wokingham

The British Softball Federation crowned its Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze National Champions for 2012 on a warm and sunny weekend, August 11-12, at Cantley Park outside Wokingham. Nineteen teams took part, two less than a year ago. Two of the finals were relatively close, but two were blow-outs that the teams on the receiving end will want to forget.

Manchester and Birmingham take the honours at Bristol

The Bristol Main Tournament was played over the weekend of July 7-8 and managed triumph over the heavy rain that saturated much of the country that week. Manchester Greensox won the the B-grade competition and the Birmingham Bobcats triumphed at C-grade.

GB Under-16s gain experience in Italy

The GB Under-16 Girls' Fastpitch Team, without an official competition this summer, attended the Tuscany Series Under-16 Tournament in Arezzo, Italy from August 2-5. The team won two games and lost three and finished sixth out of eight teams, but gained valuable experience for next summer's European Championships.

ESF joins Team USA for Border Battle IV tour

As part of the ongoing relationship between the ESF and the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) with regard to developing slowpitch softball, the ASA extended an invitation to ESF Slowpitch Development Commissioner John Austin earlier this year to participate in a Team USA men's slowpitch promotional tour ahead of the annual Border Battle with Canada. John joined the squad as a shadow assistant coach in Bismarck, North Dakota for the start of a ten-day tour of the Mid-West.

Leeds Tournament rings the changes in 2012

The 2012 Leeds Softball Tournament took place on the weekend of June 23-24, with exciting changes. As part of the Leeds Softball Association's objective to expand and improve softball in Yorkshire, new venues, a new tournament structure, different accommodation options and a new team of organisers were all introduced for the 2012 competition.

GB’s Stacie Townsend on All-World Team

A US-based organisation called The Fastpitch School has inaugurated the selection of a TFS All-World Softball Team following the conclusion of the biennial ISF Women's World Championships in Whitehorse, Canada last month – and GB Women's Team player Stacie Townsend has been included in this very select group.

The 2012 Greater London Softball Mixed League season is heading into its final, tense few weeks, with teams (mostly) having played everybody in their divisions and weighing up their promotion hopes and relegation fears.

Slovenians win the European Slowpitch Cup

The reign of the British and Irish at the top of European slowpitch is over. The Slovenian team Lisicke won the European Slowpitch Cup on Saturday in the Czech town of Pardubice with a tense, tight but well deserved 6-4 win over Chromies.
