Softball Shorts goes Extra Large

The Softball Shorts Day run by the Greater London Softball Mixed League (GLSML) on Sunday 28 April on Primrose Hill for new and inexperienced players doubled in size this year, with over 40 people attending the coaching session.

ASA adds three bats to non-approved bat list

Three new bats have been added to the ASA non-approved bat list for 2013, and these bats, like the others on the list, will not be legal for play in the UK.

National Softball League to kick off at Diamond 1

The 2013 National Softball League (NSL) will kick off at the first Diamond Series tournament on May 11-12 at Farnham Park, with 12 teams signed up to play, one more than in 2012. Eight of those teams will qualify for the Premier Nationals at the end of the season.

Birmingham Softball League about to make history

The new Birmingham Softball League (BSL) will begin play in mid-May, marking the first softball league in the city for 10 years. Teams are currently preparing for the season by holding Softball4Beginners courses and pre-season friendlies.

The Firm holds its own in Pardubice

The Firm, the London Advertising Softball League's 2010 'rookie team' that regularly plays C-grade tournaments throughout the UK, recently decided that a pre-season tour to Pardubice in the Czech Republic might be a good way to warm up for the coming season. And the results were interesting, to say the least, as The Firm reached the final.

US college coach to scout at Fastpitch League

Head Coach Keri Meyer and other officials from Monroe College in New York City will be coming to the UK on the weekend of 18-19 May to look at young players in the Great Britain Fastpitch League (GBFL) and to make a presentation to players and parents about the school.

British Airways Tournament now open for entries

The annual British Airways Tournament at the BA Concorde Club in Cranford, near Heathrow Airport, will run on June 15-16 for NSL, B-grade and C-grade teams, and is open for entries. Demand is likely to be high.

Eighteen teams have fun at the Windsor First Ball

Eighteen mostly C-grade teams enjoyed a good day of softball at the Windsor First Ball tournament on a chilly Saturday 27 April at Farnham Park. While the weather was generally sunny, there was the odd freak hailstone and some random thunderclaps to make the day more interesting.

GB Slowpitch selections made for Euros

GB Slowpitch Head Coach Steve Patterson and his staff have announced the 18 players they have selected for the team that will attempt to win a ninth straight European Championship from July 17-20 this summer in Pardubice, in the Czech Republic.
