GB Players Need More Support

Those of you who saw the first issue of the GB Softball Newsletter at the end of May will know that, thanks to an unusual combination of circumstances, all seven GB fastpitch and slowpitch national teams are playing in official ESF or ISF competitions this year – the first time this has ever happened. A rough guesstimate has put the total travel costs for these seven teams at something over £100,000.

Chalfont Softball Club plans Junior Softball Nights

Young people in the Chiltern District will be encouraged to take up a new sport this summer when Chalfont Softball Club puts on a series of six Junior Softball Nights on Friday evenings during July and the first half of August, starting on 5 July, in an attempt to find the softball stars of the future.

Struggle is on for Premier Nationals places in the NSL

Just 13 National Softball League fixtures were played at the Pioneers Tournament on the weekend of June 22-23 in Canterbury, and H2O recorded a win and a draw to keep their place at the top of the NSL standings. But the real battle is the one shaping up for the last Premier Nationals places.

GB Softball Teams poised for competition

Four GB Softball teams will be leaving the UK over the next couple of weeks for European and World Championship competitions in a year in which every GB national team will be in official ESF or ISF competition – the first time that has ever happened.

ASA Coaches get off to a good start
24 June 2013
Two high-level slowpitch softball coaches from the United States are currently on a tour of the UK, delivering sessions to team coaches in slowpitch leagues around the country and working with teams on game strategy at tournaments. The tour, supported by the American Amateur Softball Association (ASA) and the BSF, opened in London on 20-21 June, and then moved on to the Pioneers Tournament in Canterbury.

Places now open for BSF Co-ed Nationals

The BSF has announced that places in the Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Co-ed Slowpitch National Championships on 10-11 August at Farnham Park are now open to all registered and affiliated teams. And places are still available for the Single-Sex Slowpitch Nationals on 20-21 July.

H2O stretch their lead in the NSL

Four more wins and no losses in National Softball League play at the British Airways Tournament on the weekend of 15-16 June at the BA Concorde Club in West London have stretched H2O's lead at the top of the NSL standings, with three of the six tournaments hosting NSL play in 2013 now in the books.

Harrogate Tigers to hold baseball and softball Taster Days

The Harrogate Tigers Baseball Club will be holding baseball and softball 'Taster Days' on the Stray in Harrogate for baseball and slowpitch softball players of all ages, abilities and experience from 1.00-4.00 pm on 29 June, 13 July and 17 August.

Herts softball programme looking for help

The Herts Softball Programme, part of the successful Herts Baseball Club, will be staging Wednesday evening open training sessions on 19 June and 26 June – and the club is looking for paid staff to help run its softball activities over the summer.

H2O hold NSL lead after Diamond 2

H2O, with a record of 12 wins and one loss, are leading the National Softball League table after the second Diamond Series tournament on the weekend of 8-9 June, with Pioneers, Blue Steel and Chromies within shouting distance. And it looks like several teams could be battling for the last couple of Premier Nationals places.
