GB Lion LogoThe GB Management Committee (GBMC), founded in 2009, is a group of coaches, team managers and administrators who make policy decisions and provide oversight for softball national team programmes, both fastpitch and slowpitch.  The group is chaired by BSF National Teams Officer Beth Perkins.

In order to provide more support for national teams, the GBMC is looking for volunteers to carry out a number of operational roles that will help national team managers and coaches concentrate on their primary tasks of preparing teams for competition and achieving success at tournaments overseas.

Volunteer roles

People are needed to fill the following roles within or under the supervision of the GB Management Committee:

Administrator
Carry out GBMC administration, arrange meetings, develop agendas, keep Minutes, follow up on action points from meetings.  The GBMC only meets two or three times a year, but there is a communications flow throughout the year.

Finance Manager
In the short term, devise and implement an up-to-date system for co-ordinating funds taken in and spent by the different national teams.  Then co-ordinate and reconcile national team accounts before and after teams travel to tournaments, working with BSF Treasurer Mike Jennings.  Once the system is in place, the workload will be heaviest from March through August.

Development Manager
The role is to identify and recruit elite players or those with the potential to excel for national teams from inside and outside British softball.

Fundraising & Grants Manager
Pursue Sport England and other grants that might be relevant  for the GB national team programme.  Assist with arranging local fundraising events for GB teams.  Keep the BSF and BSUK informed of grant and sponsorship applications to avoid crossed wires and duplication of effort.  Fundraising efforts will mainly be concentrated in the first half of each year.

Equipment Manager
Create an inventory of equipment belonging to GB teams, order new equipment as required, coordinate the sharing of equipment for training and manage the distribution of equipment when teams travel.  Once an inventory has been done, this job is mainly concentrated in the spring and summer.

Strength & Conditioning Advisor
Assist GB national team coaches with nutrition and fitness programmes on a year-round basis.

Communications Manager
Coordinate communications to the national teams database; edit and email information to players, parents and team staff, including invitations to training sessions and trials; coordinate external coverage and reporting for GB national teams.  This job is mainly concentrated in the first seven months of each year.
