Four university softball teams from the South Coast came together on Saturday 6 February at the University of Brighton to battle it out on Day 2 of the South Coast University Softball Series.

The Southampton Mustangs, Brighton Panthers, Portsmouth Shafters and Chichester Raptors clashed in an indoor round-robin which left Southampton with a clear lead in the series over Portsmouth in second place.

The two Hampshire universities showed their experience against their relatively fledgling Sussex opponents, but no team went home without a win under its belt.   And there was some fast, exciting softball played, leaving no doubt that everyone had improved their skills and learned from teammates and opponents alike.

The teams can now look forward to an outdoor competition for Day 3 of the series, to be hosted by the University of Portsmouth in March.
