The new Sefton Softball League has announced that its nominated charity for 2014 will be Guide Dogs for the Blind.  Over the course of the coming season, the league will be holding fundraising events with the goal of raising enough money to train a new dog.

On Monday 24 February, league members were visited by Hattie the guide dog and her handler Becky Clarke during training at Croxteth Wellbeing Centre, where Hattie was the star of the show.

Among the fundraising events currently being planned on behalf of the charity are a selection of world record attempts at the league's base at the Northern Cricket Club in Crosby on Merseyside.

Good cause

Lee Coupland, the league's Development Officer who will be running the London Marathon in the name of the charity said: "I'm really looking forward raising money for such a good cause.  It will spur me on during those long lonely miles on the road."
