Under an exchange programme between the European Softball Federation and Softball Canada, BASU umpire Pete Saunders has been chosen to officiate at the 2015 Canadian Men's Slowpitch Championship in Dorchester, Ontario from 9-15 August.

Softball Canada, in turn, will send a blue to umpire at the European Slowpitch Championships in Dupnitsa, Bulgaria from 28 July-2 August.

There will also be an exchange of umpires between the Canadian Open Women's Fastpitch Championships in Surrey, British Columbia and the European Women's Championships in Rosmalen, Holland during July.

Pete Saunders, who is ESF and ISF-qualified, and has taken on the role of BASU Secretary this year, is delighted to receive this honour.

“I guess it's going to be a pretty full-on week in Canada,” he said.
