Softball has begun early in Norfolk, with the Association's fastpitch team already two games into an eight-game series against RAF Lakenheath and the adult slowpitch league set to begin just after Easter.

Slowpitch

The 2014 Senior Slowpitch League will begin on Thursday 24 April, with seven teams competing.  Reigning champions The Wolves will return, while the other six teams are a mix of new and old players.

The one major rule change for the season centres on the introduction of an 11" ball for female batters, which we hope will increase their on-base percentage.

Our Senior travelling team, Norfolk'n'chance, will return to RAF Mildenhall for the annual Recon Weekend Tournament at the start of June.  Last year we were the only non-US team present and anticipate something similar again.  This time, however, we hope to be a bit better prepared and possibly a bit more successful.

Fastpitch

Meanwhile, our fastpitch team is two games into an eight-game series against the Americans at RAF Lakenheath, with the teams currently tied at one game apiece.  Norfolk's chances continue to be led by GB Under-19 pitcher Amie Hutchison, who continues to dominate from the circle.

Our thriving youth programme will get going on 27 May and will run through 16 September. Similar to last year, it will consist of a mix of coaching and competition with mini and junior sections.
