Nominations for the Sport & Recreation Alliance's Community Sport and Recreation Awards are now being accepted from leagues, clubs, teams, schools and individuals.

The awards, which have been running for over 20 years, are the premier grassroots awards, spanning a sector of more than 300 different sport and recreation activities.

Previously, nominations could only be made by sports' National Governing Bodies, but this year nominations can be made by clubs, teams, leagues or even individuals.
 

Award categories

The 2014 Community Sport and Recreation Awards have six award categories:

  • Community Sport + Recreation Overall Winner
  • Volunteer Management
  • School Links
  • Professional Club Community Programme of the Year Award
  • Green Thinking
  • Innovative Project Award
     

The awards are free to enter.  Category award winners will receive a cheque for £1,000 while the overall winner will receive a prize of £2,500.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Saturday 12 July at St James's Palace in London by HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

The closing date for applications is no later than 5.00 pm on Sunday 4 May.
