The Manchester Sport and Music Festival, scheduled for 16-18 May in Salford with softball as one of the featured sports, has been cancelled due to the organisers' inability to find and confirm a suitable venue.

Bthere Events, the Festival organiser, had moved the event to a new site at the Salford Sports Village for 2014, only to discover potential health and safety problems at the venue.  The search for an alternative venue with enough land for both sport and festival activities has been difficult and the company has reluctantly taken the decision to cancel the event for this year.

Softball was to have been included as one of the featured sports for the very first time, and the event had attracted interest from teams around the country.

All teams that had paid to play in the 2014 festival will be reimbursed through a cheque in the post.  All spectators who had purchased tickets are being advised to contact Ticketmaster who have been notified to reimburse the money.
