The Leeds Softball Association will host the Girlsball Tournament on Sunday 4 September 2011 at Wellington Place, Leeds. The charity competition is in support of Breast Cancer Haven Leeds.

The event normally takes place in May at the start of the season, but this year's springtime effort had to be postponed due to uncooperative weather.

After securing corporate sponsorship from Cobbetts LLP and the Wellington Place venue in the city centre, the LSA have opted to hold the event at the end of season and incorporate the ladies-only tournament with a fun "open day" for potential new softball players. The LSA is a unisex slowpitch softball league that has a mixture of corporate and private teams.

Open day for all

The open day will have a festival atmosphere, with a time trial bounce around the bases on space hoppers, a raffle and a clinic with BaseballSoftballUK coaches introducing newbies to the skills of slowpitch softball. Attendees and passersby will even be able to test their hitting skills in a batting cage.

Everyone is welcome.
