GB Women’s Team outfielder Chloe Wigington has been offered a softball scholarship at Lake Land College in Mattoon, Illinois, a two-year NJCAA Division 1 junior college, and will begin her college programme in January 2016.

Chloe has played for GB Softball Teams at every level from the Under-13s to the GB Women’s Team and has continued to improve at every step along the way.

The Lake Land College softball team is coached by Great Rivers Athletic Conference Coach of the Year Nic Nelson, who has brought teams to the UK for London Cup tournaments in the past.

Chloe Wigington is following in the footsteps of British players Laura Thompson, Steph Pearce and Susie Hall in taking the decision to play college softball in the United States in order to train  more intensively than is possible in Britain and to gain more competition experience.

Chloe said: “This is the one challenge I dreamt of, but I did not think would happen for one reason or another.  I know I have more hard work ahead of me and of course I am very nervous about arriving there and doing well, but I am going to give it my best shot.”

Following two seasons at Lake Land College, Chloe will hope to move on to a four-year college for her final two seasons, as Laura, Steph and Susie have all done.
