The collaboration between the GB Under-13 Girls' Fastpitch Programme and the LondonSports Youth Softball League has resulted in the first of two trial sessions where players from London Sports can attempt to win a place in the GB Under-13 team that will play in Europe later this summer.

Over the past few weeks, GB Under-13 Head Coach Beth Perkins and Assistant Coaches Nadya Pavlova and Jodie Rushin have been going to LondonSports playing days at Wormwood Scrubs and running fastpitch training sessions for any girls interested between the ages of nine and 13.  These sessions have led to the two trial dates.

Trials

The first trial for the LondonSports girls, who only play slowpitch in their league competition, was held on Saturday 17 May in perfect weather.  Twelve girls attended and were evaluated on their pitching ability, hitting, outfield and infield potential and their speed around the bases.

All the girls did well, and a second trial day will be held on Saturday 31 May at the Linford Christie Stadium at Wormwood Scrubs, when those girls who were unable to make it on 17 May can be assessed.

Any girls who wish to trial on 31 May should contact Under-13 Team Manager Julie Spittle  (julie.spittle@britishsoftball.org).

Tournament

In August, the GB Under-13 team will play in the European Softball Federation's Massimo Romeo Youth Cup in Collechio, near Parma, Italy.
