The GB Under-19 Men’s Fastpitch Team, one of GB Softball’s fastest-developing programmes, is looking for a new Head Coach to take the team forward.

The GB Under-19 Men have no official European competition in 2016, but will be building towards European Championships in 2017 and WBSC Junior Men’s World Championships in 2018 by participating in the Great Britain Fastpitch League this year, sending players to mixed fastpitch tournaments in Paris this spring and autumn, participating in training weekends and pitching clinics and entering a single-sex slowpitch event this summer.

Josh Peat, a former GB Under-19 player, was the Head Coach in 2015 when the team competed in European Championships in the Czech Republic.  But Josh will be a player for the GB Senior Men’s Team this summer and wants to step down to an Assistant Coach role with the U-19s.

Hence the vacancy for a new Head Coach.

Requirements

Candidates must have at least a Level 2 coaching qualification and a willingness to attain Level 3 certification.

Previous playing experience at international level is desirable as well as previous fastpitch coaching experience.

A DBS check will be needed if not already held and attendance at a safeguarding course.

The new Head Coach should be able to coach the team in the Great Britain Fastpitch League this year (30 April, 7 May, 21 May, 4 June and 23-24 July) and during the mixed fastpitch tournaments in Paris.

The position is voluntary, but in-country expenses and costs incurred during trips overseas are covered.

Application form

Anyone interested in the position of Head Coach for the GB Under-19 Men’s Team, normally a two-year appointment, should compete an application form and notify GB Under-19 Men’s Team Manager Ian Tomlin
