Entries are now open for the co-ed slowpitch softball competition at the Mammoth Games, a Summer Sports Festival to be held on Saturday 25 July featuring day-long sports and music for social athletes in London.

The softball event will be held at Barn Elms Sports Centre, Queen Elizabeth Walk, Barnes SW13 0DG, from 11.00 am to around 6.00 pm, and a variety of partners will provide food (hot & cold) and drinks (non-alcoholic and alcoholic) throughout the day and evening.

The Games are hosted by GO Mammoth, the UK’s Social Sports Club and the nation’s largest provider of after-work sports leagues and fitness classes.

Teams or individuals

Existing softball teams can enter the Mammoth Games, but if you don't have enough players, you can still enter as a small group or an individual and be matched up with others to form a team.

BSUK London Development Manager Liz Knight said: “Since GO Mammoth formed a partnership with BSUK to run social softball leagues, it’s been one of the country’s fastest-growing leagues.  Already there are over 40 teams playing in leagues in Regents Park, Clapham Junction, Wandsworth and Shoreditch.

As well as the softball competition, the Mammoth Games will offer music and entertainment, team fancy dress, great prizes and loads more.  For more details on the Mammoth Games and to register for the softball competition, visit www.mammothgames.co.uk/ or if you are interested in joining a GO Mammoth League in London, check out www.GoMammoth.co.uk.

More details

During the Mammoth Games softball competition, games will be time-limited at 80 minutes and spread throughout the day.  Fixtures will be sent out prior to the event so team know in advance when they are playing.

All teams are encouraged to wear fancy dress with the theme of “To the Beach”, and prizes will be awarded for the best team fancy dress.

The tournament entry fee includes full access to other festival entertainment -- food, bars, other sports zones, other entertainment (music all day from noon-10.00 pm) and free entry to the after-party (11.00 pm-early hours).
