British co-ed slowpitch teams can warm up for the 2016 season with a weekend away in the Czech Republic next spring.

The Slava Hosana 2016 Tournament will be run on the weekend of 16-17 April in Pardubice, 70 miles east of Prague.  The tournament is being organised by the famous Czech slowpitch team Wayne’s World and their charismatic leader Wayne (aka Tomas Rambousek).

There are places for six teams, and the event will be played as a full round robin, with the first-placed team going straight to the final while the second and third-placed teams from the round-robin will play off for the other final place.

Teams already committed to the tournament include Triple Play (Germany vice-champions in 2015),
Rytiri Trutnov (second in the Czech Slowpitch League in 2015 and Wayne’s World (Czech Slowpitch League Champions this year).

The entry fee will be 2000 Czech kroner (around £50), and the tournament will be played according to ESF slowpitch rules.

Other attractions

After play on Saturday, teams will be picked up at their hotels for a bus tour around the city and then a party, featuring Lada’s famous grilled pork.

Other events over the weekend will include an umpires‘ seminar, a catching seminar for young baseball catchers, a baseball Road Show for kids and an exhibition youth baseball game.
