Chichester Falcons Softball Club from the Solent Softball League will be hosting a one-day corporate slowpitch tournament in aid of local charity Children on the Edge on 14 April at Chichester University.

With space for up to eight co-ed teams representing local businesses and organisations, the tournament will run on two pitches at the University playing fields, just outside the city centre.  The tournament has already attracted interest from local supermarket chains, council departments and independent retailers, and is set to be a fantastic day out for players and spectators alike.

Many aims

The aims of the tournament are to get colleagues and their families playing together outside of a work environment, raise funds for a worthwhile local charity, and increase the profile of softball in the Chichester area.  The Softball Shop has helped with equipment, while Patrick Knock and Stan Doney at BSUK have provided advice and contacts.

The teams are expected to be formed from a mixture of rookies and seasoned softballers, and the Falcons will be providing coaching to teams as required, as well as assigning a mentor from the Chichester club to help each team on the day.

Entry is just £120 per team, via the website at www.charitysoftball.co.uk.
