At the 2014 BSF AGM in Manchester, the Executive reminded slowpitch teams that have recruited or intend to recruit junior players under the age of 18 about the safety regulations set by the ISF.  These regulations stipulate the use of a helmet while batting and baserunning and the use of a mask when an under-18 player acts as catcher.

However, to support teams purchasing this equipment, the BSF will pay half the cost of a helmet and mask, to a maximum of £20, upon receiving a scan or copy of the invoice.

For the convenience of BSF member teams, The Baseball and Softball Shop, as a BSF Supplier Partner, has created a package in their on-line catalogue (click here) so that both items can be bought together at a discount.

Safeguarding

The BSF urges all teams to safeguard their junior members by observing the ISF regulations.

Although not mandatory for adult players, this kind of safety equipment is increasingly being used by slowpitch leagues across the country, and in future the BSF will consider extending this subsidy to adult teams.

To get the refund of up to £20 from the BSF, send a scan or copy of the invoice for a mask and helmet to BSF Treasurer Mike Jennings (mike.jennings@britishsoftball.org) along with your BACS details for repayment.
