Farnham Park facilities near completion

The new dedicated baseball and softball diamonds being built by BSUK at Farnham Park near Slough are nearing completion. Grass has been seeded, and how well it grows and beds in over the winter will determine when in 2013 the fields can be used.

ISF Congress approves ISF merger with IBAF

A Special Congress held by the International Softball Federation (ISF) on October 30 in Houston, Texas has voted with 71% in favour to combine with the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) to establish a new International Federation for softball and baseball, to be called the International Confederation of Softball and Baseball (ICSB).

Birmingham hosts first international event

Following a successful trip to Cologne earlier this year by the Tourcats, a travelling team from the Birmingham Bobcats Softball Club, the Bobcats invited the Aachen Aixplosives, a mixed fastpitch team from Germany, to the UK for a one-day international slowpitch tournament on September 29, part of an effort to form an association of recreational slowpitch teams in Europe that want to compete across international boundaries.

Leeds indoor season begins 5 November

The Leeds Softball Association and the Dynamite Softball Club will be running an indoor softball season in Leeds, starting on Monday, 5 November, with two sessions every week.

SJA Badgers crowned London Charity League champions

The final of the 2012 London Charity Softball League playoffs was played recently in Hyde Park, and the St John's Ambulance Badgers came from behind in the final inning to edge out the National Deaf Children's Society by a score of 8-7 and were duly crowned as LCSL Cup Champions.

British softball history moves back in time

The British Softball Federation celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2009, based on an accepted version of history that had the first softball governing body forming in London in 1984. But new information has come to light suggesting that the first version of the BSF dates back to 1968.

World Vintage Softball Carnival goes back to Hawaii

The third World Vintage Softball Carnival is set to return to the beautiful Hawaiian island of Oahu from October 19-27, 2013. Teams and players over the age of 35 are invited to participate in what will be an exciting celebration of fastpitch and slowpitch softball in one of the world's great holiday destinations.

Major League stars to run London youth clinics

Five Major League Baseball players, including Rick VandenHurk of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Jeremy Guthrie of the Kansas City Royals and Roger Bernadina of the Washington Nationals, will visit London on November 16 and 17 to participate in instructional clinics for young baseball and softball players. The clinics are part of the third annual European Big League Tour, which was conceived by Rick VandenHurk, a native of the Netherlands.
