GB Women win the Battle of Europe

Karlene Headley-Cooper drove a single between first and second base in the bottom of the seventh inning with the bases loaded and two outs to give the GB Women's Fastpitch Team its first win at the World Cup of Softball, a 3-2 victory over the Czech Republic in the battle of European teams.

GB Slowpitch takes care of business in Bulgaria

GB and Slovenia finished the group stage of the 2011 European Slowpitch Championships in Dupnitsa, Bulgaria tied at the top of the group with nine wins and one loss each. Ireland made the Page Playoffs by coming third at 6-4 and the host Bulgarians took the last playoff spot with a 3-7 record, just ahead of the Czech Republic and Germany.

GB Women scare the life out of Canada

The GB Women's Fastpitch Team looked good in their opening game in the World Cup of Softball against Australia on July 21. On July 22, they looked even better in losing by only 6-4 to the world's #3 team, Canada. And had two plays in the game gone differently, GB might well have won.

Austrian team pulls out of European Slowpitch Cup

The Austrian team WBV Homerunners have made a late pull-out from the European Slowpitch Cup, scheduled for August 3-6 in the Czech Republic, which means the competition is down to the minimum, four teams.

GB and Slovenia share the lead after Day 3 at the European Slowpitch Championships

The GB Co-ed Slowpitch Team duly got its revenge on Slovenia on Day 3 at the European Slowpitch Championships for the defeat suffered on Day 2. Now, with one more day of round-robin games to go, GB and Slovenia are tied at the top of the standings, and two teams will join them in the Page Playoffs that will be played on Saturday, July 23.

GB Women suffer tough-luck loss to Australia at the World Cup

There was very little to choose between the GB Women's Fastpitch Team and Team Australia when they met on the opening day of the 6th World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City on July 21. Australia won 7-1, but the game should have been a lot closer and the Australians had most of the luck.

GB Women drop final scrimmage game in Oklahoma

In their third and final scrimmage game on July 20 before the 6th World Cup of Softball begins in Oklahoma City, the GB Women's Fastpitch Team let a 3-0 lead slip away and went down 6-3 to an Oklahoma Under-19 team heading for national championships.

An interesting turn of events at the European Slowpitch Championships

It's been a long time since the GB Slowpitch Team lost a game at the European Slowpitch Championships. You might have to go all the way back to 2006. But the spell was broken on Wednesday, July 20 when GB suffered a stunning loss to Slovenia, and it's the undefeated Slovenians who top the table after the second day's play.

The General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has set the scene for further baseball-softball discussions about a joint Olympic reinstatement bid by approving the inclusion of softball as a discipline of baseball for the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.

GB Women hang on for second scrimmage game win

The GB Women's Fastpitch Team picked up a second straight scrimmage game win on July 19 before the start of the 6th World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City, but this one wasn't as easy as the first one had been.
