BSF cuts back on plans for NSL 3 play in 2018

Mon 11 Feb 2019

BSF intentions to begin league play for NSL 3 teams in 2019 have received a setback, with a number of teams dropping out after initially committing to the plan for eight-team divisions in the North and South and league games being staged at regional tournaments.

As a result, BSF Competitions Officer Liz Graham has announced that, as in 2018, NSL 3 play will take place only at a National Championship tournament, to be held on the weekend of 31 August-1 September at Parrs Wood High School in Didsbury, Manchester.

The two finalists at that tournament will both be promoted to NSL 2 for the 2020 season.

Regulations governing the NSL 3 Nationals will be that teams taking part will be affiliated to the BSF and will have no NSL 1 or NSL 2 players in their squads.

To compete in this tournament, rostered players will need to have competed for the team on four occasions during the season in league or tournament play.

Any teams that sign up to the NSL 3 Nationals and withdraw after 15 July will forfeit their entry fee.

During and after the 2019 season, the BSF will explore the possibility of expanding NSL 3 to include league play in 2020, based on the number of teams willing to commit to this structure.
